Fat deposits on the body can be stubborn, refusing to budge no matter how much you diet and exercise. CoolSculpting is a localized treatment designed to target those unwanted bulges specifically. Fat cells generally cannot survive temperatures below 4 degrees Celsius. CoolSculpting works by reducing tissue temperature as low as -11 degrees Celsius, crystallizing a percentage of the fat cells in the subcutaneous layer. Those crystallized cells are permanently destroyed.
The latest advance in fat freezing technology, CoolSculpting Elite, facilitates faster, more efficient body sculpting. This system has dual applicators for the simultaneous treatment of two areas.
Yes! When a fat cell crystallizes, it dies. The body then metabolizes it and removes it from the body. Those cells are gone for good, and the body will not regenerate them. Each session removes an average of 20 to 25 percent of fat cells. It is perfectly safe to perform CoolSculpting repeatedly on the same area until your desired results are achieved.
None! You might be a bit sore in the treatment areas, but most patients can resume most normal daily activities right away.
You can expect to feel a sensation of suction on the tissue as it is pulled into the applicator, but the most noticeable feeling is extreme cold. If you were to place an ice pack directly out of the freezer onto your Skin, that would be very similar to the feeling of CoolSculpting.

That can vary, depending on the amount of fat to be removed and how your body responds. However, most people need only one or two CoolSculpting sessions.
Not quite, but you will not have to wait long. There is usually some improvement within four weeks, and full results will develop in two or three months.
You might notice flushing (redness) in the treatment area for a couple of hours. Some patients have no additional side effects at all. Others experience mild tingling, swelling, bruising, numbness, or tenderness in the treatment area. These effects are temporary and typically fade away quickly.
Dieting is about weight loss, whereas fat freezing is about body shaping. The number and distribution of fat cells in the adult human body generally do not change. If you gain or lose weight, those cells grow and shrink. Problem areas occur when there is a high concentration of fat cells in a particular area. Even if you are at a healthy weight and generally slim, that area still bulges. CoolSculpting works by reducing the number of fat cells in targeted locations, effectively re-shaping the body.
Your body removes them naturally. Although fat cells are generally permanent, many types of cells in the human body have a short lifecycle. Your body routinely metabolizes dead cells, disposing of them via the digestive and lymphatic drainage system, which is what happens to the treated fat. You will not be able to see or feel it happening, as this is a natural process. The body does not differentiate between cells that die naturally and those that are destroyed.
The best candidate is a healthy individual who is within 30 pounds of his or her ideal weight. Patients with more than 30 pounds of excess weight may need additional treatment sessions to achieve their desired results. For patients with more than 50 extra pounds, treatment may be possible, but it is generally preferable to try a weight loss program first and then follow up with CoolSculpting treatment.
The CoolSculpting Elite device has several applicators designed for different areas of the body. Applicators are contoured to fit treatment areas such as the abdomen, arms, flanks, inner thighs, outer thighs, submentum, or bra fat areas. When you decide to have CoolSculpting treatment, we will determine the best applicators depending on your body goals. With the advanced CoolSculpting Elite system, we can treat two areas simultaneously.

Your clinician will apply the selected applicators, which draw the fatty tissue to the cooling plates using gentle suction. The applicators remain in place for approximately 35 to 45 minutes, during which time they gradually lower the temperature of the fat. By the time it reaches the ideal temperature of approximately -11 degrees Celsius, the fat is completely frozen. That triggers a process known as apoptosis, which is the death of fat cells. Because the procedure is localized and targeted, it does not harm any other tissues or organs in the body.

After removing the applicators, your clinician gently massages the area, which increases the breakdown of fat by as much as 68 percent. During this step, the tissue will increase in temperature and regain its normal consistency. That means you will not leave our office with areas still frozen solid.
The likeness in names might lead you to believe that these devices are comparable to CoolSculpting. In reality, they are laser devices, which shrink fat cells with temporary results. CoolSculpting, on the other hand, kills the fat cells for permanent results. While you might notice an improvement from laser fat reduction, it will not last. CoolSculpting has been proven effective through several Harvard studies, and it is FDA cleared for noninvasively reducing fat.
